I was chatting with a friend the other night whom I hadn’t seen since last summer, and after a quick life update he told me it sounded like I “had it all together.”
I nearly spit out my drink in his face laughing.
Me? Having it together?
(Coming from a guy who owns his own home and has a full time job).
I’m living at my friend’s house (its quite nice).
I’m working at a seasonal job where I am the oldest (still fun).
And I have NO IDEA what the heck I’m going to do after Labor Day.
And I was the one that “had it all together.”
That brief conversation proved to me that it truly is all about perspective. From what my friend heard, it sounded to him like I was killing it. And while I wouldn’t go that far, I feel great. Sure, I may not have my career all together, but there is so much more than that. My mental health, physical health, personal relationships…all those things that REALLY matter, that’s where I feel like I have it together. So maybe his comment was meant to be based off of those, instead of my current job.
So take this as a friendly reminder that you definitely don’t have to “have it all together,” but I’m sure there’s someone out there that thinks you do, no matter how you feel.
Happy Monday friends, have a great week!
