2017 Goals Check In

Friends – its March. WHAT THE HECK.

Getting old is scary because time just flies by.

February was pretty much a month of adventure. I spent time in San Francisco,CA, St. Louis, MO, and Nashville, TN. We had our friend Isiah visit the second weekend of the month, and I started picking up extra hours at the gym. Whew.

February always feels like a struggle bus month to me, no matter what I have planned. I’m not sure why the shortest month of the year is often mentally rough, but it is. I didn’t suffer from the winter blues as much as when I lived in Michigan – but it has been rainy, gray and chilly (40s-50s) in Cali lately.

I think posting these monthly updates is definitely holding me more accountable to my goals, so to whoever reads this, THANK YOU. I’m being a better person because of you (in a roundabout way).

Let’s get to it!

Fitness & Health Goals:

The good:

  • Annie is still kickin’ my butt – after this week I will have been training with her for 6 months! (post about all of this coming Friday!)
  • I am taking my monthly progress photos
  • I started paying more attention to my macros again and finally downloaded My Fitness Pal (not sure why I waited so long to do so). It’s been a big help with tracking – if that is something you’re into then I would download it!
  • I was (*almost*) successful with no bagels, office candy or Sprinkles cupcakes in February! [ I had candy once at LAX and I had half a Sprinkles cupcake over the weekend haha]

What I need to work on:

  • still didn’t get my @$$ to a yoga class – but I did some on my own at home. The free yoga at our apartment is Monday nights, and it was really hard this month to get there (obviously haha). Two of the Mondays I was flying back into town, and the other two I was at the gym instead. BUT  I found a Hot Yoga studio right by our house and snagged a Groupon for 10 classes for $45 (amazing considering a drop in class is $24) so I’m starting there this weekend.

Life Goals:

The good:

What I need to work on:

  • Finding a job I’m passionate about. Big changes are in the works, and I’ll update you all once things are set in stone. BUT – teaching SPIN part time and helping out at the gym here and there has been making me happy. I’ve been teaching for 2 months so now I have regulars in my classes and know the students, which, as other instructors know, is the best part.
  • I’ve been struggling internally trying to figure out what I WANT. Not what society says I should want, what my friends want, what my family wants, etc. I’ve been working through this for a bit now, but it definitely still needs some work 🙂

The good:

What I need to work on:

  • In the process of figuring out dates to go to Palm Springs, Sequoia National Park and back to Mammoth to ski (hopefully all this month!) so fingers crossed I can make all that happen

    Love these goals! I resonate with so many of them. The workout / macro train can be HARD but it looks like you did well this week! And finding a career that you’re passionate about is so important. I’m working on that, too 🙂

      the macro train is definitely hard. Or really just the “staying committed to good eating and fitness train” hahaha. But i love it, and I feel good when I do stay on track, which is oftentimes my biggest motivation.

    I’m filling you on figuring out what you WANT and all that jazz. I’m in the middle of that very thing right now. Do I want to stay where I am? Move? Buy a business? Change careers? All the things!

    Sounds like you are doing great on your goals! I am super jealous of all of your travel. As for what you want… I firmly believe that no one knows what they want to do. I certainly don’t. So I have decided it is everyone to make myself feel better.

      thanks girl! and as for the travel – you just have to make it happen, even if its only a weekend trip 🙂

    First off – I can’t believe it’s March either! Time flew by! It sounds like you’re killing it with your goals – I so would love to start taking yoga as well. I tried once here but it’s super awkward in another language… and in our apartment my dog takes it as an invitation to climb on my face. whomp. Love your outfit here. The all black is so chic and I’m obsessed with your bag!

      working out at home with dogs is SO HARD haha. So I totally get that. And I can’t imagine yoga in another language – I’m sure I’d be the one in the back of the class laughing! xo
