1.) I have *almost* conquered my fear of elevators. Now, I will still definitely choose the stairs whenever possible (and under 10 flights), but my office is on the 18th floor, so I’m riding up and down a few times per day without freaking out.
2.) I have become a basic Starbucks bi*** – I discovered iced non-fat caramel macchiatos in the spring and there’s no turning back. I’ve been trying to limit it to one per week because they are so frivolous (but delicious!)
3.) I am a much more aggressive driver now. You have to adapt quickly out here, especially when I drive on 3 different highways on the way to work, and all have between 4-7 lanes each side. Whew. Driving back in the Midwest feels relaxing now 😉
4.) I’m pretty sure I’m becoming more materialistic…full post coming soon.
5.) I’ve become more independent (out of necessity). Living with no family and very minimal friends nearby means you have to figure most things out on your own. When my tire fell off my car in July I didn’t have the option to call my friends or parents and see if they could help. I had to find my own auto shop instead of using my dad’s “car guy” that he loves. No more driving home for the weekend to hang with the family (while your parents inadvertently take care of you), no more calling a friend for a favor.
It’s only been 4.5 months and I’m already noticing these differences – definitely interested in see what else changes during my time in California!
Tell me, have you ever experienced anything like this?
PS. loving this necklace I snagged at H&M last week (it is no longer online but it is in stores!) // and I’m still obsessed with the floral blazer I’ve been wearing since March!
